NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION

The importance of a balanced diet:

A balanced diet has to be sufficient, complete, appropriate and as varied as possible. The calorie intake must be adapted to the amount of energy used by each person. Physical activity, appropriate diet and healthy lifestyle habits have a positive affect on our health and well-being.

In Spain, the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs has drawn up the NAOS (The Strategy for Nutrition, Physical Activity and the Prevention of Obesity), the purpose of which is to improve the eating habits and encourage the regular practice of physical activity in all citizens.

To get a balanced diet it is necessary to intake all types of nutrients in appropriate amounts:

• Carbohydrates: are a source of energy.

• Fats: are a source of “concentrated” energy and transport lipo-soluble vitamins.

• Proteins: are the structural base of the organism.

• Vitamins and mineral salts: essential for the functioning of the organism. Among them, sodium (present in salt), which may lead to the development of diseases such as hypertension if taken in large amounts.

• Fibre: favours intestinal transit, preventing the appearance of certain illnesses.
