1.- What are the conditions of freshness of perishable products?

Makro guarantees the conditions of freshness of all its products by making a careful selection of its suppliers and controlling its merchandise using the FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation method, maintaining the cold chain, good handling practices and the correct implementation of the HACCP system in all our stores.
2.- What is HACCP?
This stands for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points. Its implementation is compulsory in all food establishments, to help achieve higher food safety standards.
3.- What controls does Makro perform to guarantee the quality of its products?

4.- How can I verify the origin of the products?
This is indicated on the label on the packaging or in the informative panels of each product:
Beef: country of birth, fattening process, slaughtering and quartering.
Fish: depends on the production method:
Caught fish: FAO zone. Map of FAO zones here >>. Fish farming and fresh water fish: country of origin
Fruit: the country of origin is indicated on the informative panel.
Cold cuts, dairy products and dry foods: it is indicated in the manufacturer’s health registration on all products for which this is obligatory. On products of animal origin, it is shown inside an oval.
5.- How should I transport perishable products to my store?
If you have no refrigerated vehicles, you can transport your purchase in isothermal containers in which cold storage compartments are placed to keep the product at the correct temperature:
0-5ºC refrigerated products -18ºC deep-frozen products
At the exits of all our stores you will find a free service for exchanging clean, frozen cold storage elements.
6.- What cleaning products can I use in my establishment?

2.- HACCP and Makro solutions, where you can also consult the products recommended for each type of establishment (restaurant, retailer, butcher and baker-cake shop) and prepare your own cleaning plan.
7.- What are technical specifications and what is their purpose?
This is document describing all the characteristics of a product: physical and chemical, microbiological, organoleptic characteristics, composition, shelf life, etc. It allows you to define all the products used in your establishment perfectly defined, and forms part of your HACCP plans: cleaning plan, suppliers control plan, etc.
